In May 2027, Finland will host the international Abilympics competition alongside the Finnish national Taitaja 2027 competition. The event will be collectively known as Skills Games 2027.

The slogan for the games is “We can. We belong. No limits.” This slogan is inspired by the Olympic slogan “Faster – Higher – Stronger – Together.”

Abilympics showcases the professional skills of students with special needs. Their skills will be demonstrated in dozens of different categories during the competition days. One of the goals of the competition is to bring attention to the societal discussion about the right of professionals with special needs to be included in the workforce.

The competitions will be held in Helsinki, Finland. Finland has been chosen as the happiest country in the world for several years, and what better environment to celebrate professional skills than Helsinki, the capital of the happiest country in the world? Helsinki was chosen as the venue partly because it is easy to get around and the competition venue Messukeskus is centrally located, even if you come from further away.

The preparations are currently being made and going well. The competitions will be held as a three-day event at the Helsinki Messukeskus. At the previous Abilympics competition in Metz, France, there were 400 competitors from 27 different countries. A similar number of participants is expected in Helsinki. The competitions will surely be a great event!

We want to welcome everyone to the upcoming Skills Games 2027 event!
