English-language education boosts appeal of vocational training programs

Jenni, the teacher of practical nurse program

English-language training can significantly enhance the appeal of vocational education and training programs. By offering training programs in English, institutions become more attractive to international applicants, boosting their global reach. This, in turn, invigorates local economies as businesses draw in new talent. English-language training also strengthens the competitiveness of educational institutions and supports students’ employability.

Meeting the needs of both students and work life

– Samiedu’s English-language education and training for practical nurses is designed to meet the needs of both students and work life, says Jenny Rautio, teacher in the Social and Health Care sector at Samiedu.

Finnish language instruction is integrated from the beginning of the studies, as practical nursing applicants must demonstrate a basic level of Finnish proficiency during the application process.

– I plan to establish a nursing home where I can combine my professional expertise with my management abilities, says Judith Mirako, a student training to become a practical nurse.

– We strive to make students feel welcome, find their place both in the workplace and the local community, and remain in the area to build their careers, concludes Jenny.
