Unlocking Opportunities: How Local Sports Events Connect Vamia with Parents, Future Students, and Companies

Vamia frequently takes part in events and fairs in the Vaasa area to showcase its activities. On this occasion, we were the match sponsor for a local ice hockey game featuring the regional team, Vaasan Sport.

Vamia promoted its involvement in the event through its social media channels, including Facebook and Instagram, and shared follow-up posts after the event.

During the game, Vamia’s advertisements were displayed on the arena screens and digital signage. Vamia also had its own information booth in the arena corridor, where three representatives shared information about Vamia’s educational options. The focus was particularly on apprenticeship training opportunities and the ongoing joint application process. The booth also featured a raffle and distributed various promotional items, as well as match pucks signed by the players. The booth attracted hundreds of visitors during the game.

The Vaasan Sport game was chosen as the event venue for Vamia because the games typically draw 3,500-5,000 spectators per match. In a city the size of Vaasa, this is a large crowd gathered in one place. The event also served as a great PR opportunity of Vamia to regional companies, as local businesses actively support Sport and decision-makers and staff from these companies attend the games. At Vamia’s booth and in the arena corridors, productive discussions were held about companies’ recruitment needs and employee skill development – exactly the areas where Vamia can provide support.

Vamia actively involves students in the planning and execution of various events, utilizing their skills and enthusiasm, while providing them with valuable experience in event production. This time, the event was mostly organized by Vamia staff. Vamia had offered free tickets to students, and it was great to see how proud the students who attended the game were of Vamia. They enjoyed spending time at the Vamia booth and shared their experiences studying at Vamia with interested visitors.
